Opera Mini also available as a branded solution to mobile operators

According to this page, Opera Mini is available as a branded solution as well. This means that Sprint could have paid them and got some dedicated servers for the Instinct phone (it would have saved their network bandwidth due to server side processing on Opera Mini)!

One drawback I see is that Opera Mini requires server side processing (and decrypting your information in the process) and I probably wouldn't have used for my banking-type transactions which I don't do on my mobile phone anyways. It is supposed to be pretty secure however.

"Choose between a full-customizable branded licensing model or an Opera branded distribution model. With Opera Mini, there is choice and flexibility in the way you take it to market.

With Opera Mini, there are numerous customization options. These options include full brand integration of the UI, homepage control including search, modification of menu items, pre-installation, dedicated servers, bookmarks and more. Let Opera help you design the optimal solution for you and your customers. "

"Available in Java or BREW
The vast majority of mobile devices are either Java or BREW enabled. This means that with Opera Mini you can pre-install and deliver the full Web to almost everyone with a mobile phone. With a tiny footprint of approximately 120Kb, Opera Mini functions smoothly on even the most basic handset.
"

For now, I would be happy if we get Opera Mini 4.1 working on Instinct without locking up (after the Java Keyboard LCDUI update)

A mobile operator in India (Tata Indicom) seems to have provided Opera Mini on their handsets according to this:
