This is good news for all the Sprint Instinct users who have been very patient with the lack of downloadble third party apps for the phone. This will likely allow many of the Java mobile apps to run on Samsung Instinct phone once the certification is achieved. This will also make Instinct one of the first phones without an actual hardware keyboard to support Java LCDUI keyboard with the aid of virtual keys.

Yea i agree. it seems like we should have reached this step a long time ago. "it's almost here! just a little longer!" that's all these announcements are amounting to now. it's getting old. hell this phone will be old by the time they make the updates we want available.

Um, why should it be closed? I see little difference between this update coming 'later this year' and just being certified around 10/13. I'd expect a couple weeks after that date, and we all know the potential for delay/problems are high. So it looks like November if you're an optimist.
Funny how the cert date is 3 days after the developer contest winners are picked. This java update was intended to be delayed imho.
It looks like the pandora app has a fix made into it for the instinct it's in the sprint app store
